History of Vibration

History of Vibration Exercise.
The addition of vibration, applied parallel to muscle fibers, during exercise movements was developed in Minsk, Belarus, Russia in the late 70's. It was used to enhance stretching, strength, power and endurance along with the benefits of increased fluid flow in working muscles. Studies show major improvements in bone density, motor recruitment enhancement, increased resting metabolic rates and reduced blood pressure with Vibration Exercise.

Vibrating platforms, first introduced in Europe are now available in the States. The user stands on a vibrating platform while vibration at the feet is transferred upward through the body in diminishing amplitude.

Russian Findings
1. Maximum positive effects of vibration are attained when the mechanical stimulation is applied directly and parallel to the muscle fiber when the muscle is shortening or lengthening.

2. Total exercise time is reduced to accomplish fitness goals with no additional effort or motivation.

3. Muscle fibers do more work, under a fixed resistive load, when they are subjected to vibration stimulation while contracting or lengthening

4. Vibrating muscles under tension are subjected to plyometric stimulation similar to jump downs, without injury potential.

5. The volume of blood flow in muscles and organs is higher with vibration stimulation then during rest or regular training methods.

6. Muscle fibers are stretched further and faster with vibration stimulation.

The Russian connection Heart Rate Inc. has teamed up with Alexander Mikheev, one of the original Russian developers, with over 20 years of vibration exercise experience. The first result is a machine capable of applying Total Body Stimulation to the arms, legs and trunk, simultaneously or independently, during either static or dynamic exercises.
